Skywriter

Throw it like a
paper plane —
it lands on your Mac

The small print, in plain words

Terms you can read in one sitting.

The licence, the subscription, the trial and the cancellation policy — written to be read rather than clicked past.

What this is

These terms cover the Skywriter application and the Skywriter Plus and Skywriter Pro subscriptions. They are between you and CAP LPM, who make Skywriter. Using the app, or subscribing, means you accept them.

Skywriter is in beta. Features change, and the pages on this site describe the app as it is today rather than as it will be.

Your licence to use the app

You may install and use Skywriter on the Macs you use, subject to the installation limit shown in the app. The licence is personal and non-exclusive: you may not resell the app, rent it out, or redistribute it as your own. The app is ours; the documents you write with it are yours, and nothing here gives us any claim over them.

A subscription buys the tools, not custody of your writing.

The three tiers

Free is the editor: writing, editing, and DOCX and PDF in and out. It needs no account and no card, and it does not expire.

Plus adds the model on board — Skywrite, the AI panel, Skyfill and Templatize — and the phone companion.

Pro is everything in Plus plus the document tools: tables and spreadsheets, headers, footers and page setup, images, signatures and letterhead, track changes, and Presenter.

The free 30-day trial

The first time you sign in to Skywriter, your account is given 30 days of Plus at no charge. There is no card to enter and nothing to cancel: when the 30 days end, the trial ends with them and nothing is charged. One trial per account, ever.

You can buy Plus or Pro at any point during the trial. Buying ends the trial and starts the subscription you bought.

Subscriptions, renewal and cancellation

Plus and Pro are sold monthly or annually and are billed through Stripe, who process the payment and hold the card details. We never see your card number.

Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period, at the price then in force, until you cancel.

You can cancel at any time from the billing portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for: you keep the tools until then, and you are not billed again.

Changing between Plus and Pro keeps your billing interval. Stripe puts the prorated difference, and any applicable tax, on your next invoice.

No refunds

Payments are not refunded, in whole or in part, including for unused time in a period you have paid for. Cancelling stops the next charge; it does not return the last one. The 30-day trial exists so that you can decide whether Plus is worth paying for before you pay for it.

Where the law where you live gives you a refund right that this paragraph cannot remove, that right stands.

Price changes

Prices can change. If the price of your subscription changes, we will tell you by email before the change takes effect, at the address on your account, and the new price applies from your next billing period. If you do not want the new price, cancel before that period begins.

AI, and what you are responsible for

Skywriter’s AI runs on your own machine by default. If you configure a cloud provider, you do it with your own credential and your own account, and what you send is processed by that provider under their terms and billed to you by them. We are not a party to that relationship, and a provider’s availability, pricing and output are not ours to promise.

Model output is a draft, not advice and not a finished document. You are responsible for reading what the model writes before you rely on it, send it, or file it. Skywriter is deliberately built so that nothing the model writes leaves the app without a named approval, but the judgement in that approval is yours.

You are responsible for what you write with Skywriter and for keeping your own backups of it.

A lapse never locks a document

This is a promise, not a courtesy. If your subscription ends — because you cancelled it, because a payment failed, or because a trial ran out — the tools the tier paid for stop being available to create new constructs. Your documents stay open, readable, editable and exportable, and a document that already contains tables, tracked changes or letterhead still renders all of it in the free app. No file of yours is ever locked behind a payment.

The app is provided as it is

Skywriter is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We do not promise that it is free of defects or that it will suit a particular purpose of yours. To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for anything arising out of these terms is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim — which for a free user is nothing.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Ending your account

You can stop using Skywriter at any time; cancelling the subscription is described above. We may suspend an account that is being used to break these terms or the law, and in that case we will say why.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change in a way that matters to a subscriber, we will tell you by email before the change takes effect. Continuing to use Skywriter after that means you accept the new terms.

Governing law

[OWNER TO COMPLETE — governing law and venue.] These terms are governed by the law of [jurisdiction to be filled in before launch], and any dispute goes to the courts of that place. This paragraph is the one part of this page that is not yet settled; it is marked so that nobody mistakes the placeholder for the answer.

No file is ever locked.

Cancel whenever you like. The tools stop; the documents do not. A lapse never locks a document — that is the promise the rest of this page is built around.
